7 CosmoCLIP: Generalizing Large Vision-Language Models for Astronomical Imaging Existing vision-text contrastive learning models enhance representation transferability and support zero-shot prediction by matching paired image and caption embeddings while pushing unrelated pairs apart. However, astronomical image-label datasets are significantly smaller compared to general image and label datasets available from the internet. We introduce CosmoCLIP, an astronomical image-text contrastive learning framework precisely fine-tuned on the pre-trained CLIP model using SpaceNet and BLIP-based captions. SpaceNet, attained via FLARE, constitutes ~13k optimally distributed images, while BLIP acts as a rich knowledge extractor. The rich semantics derived from this SpaceNet and BLIP descriptions, when learned contrastively, enable CosmoCLIP to achieve superior generalization across various in-domain and out-of-domain tasks. Our results demonstrate that CosmoCLIP is a straightforward yet powerful framework, significantly outperforming CLIP in zero-shot classification and image-text retrieval tasks. 5 authors · Jul 9, 2024 1
1 CoDocBench: A Dataset for Code-Documentation Alignment in Software Maintenance One of the central tasks in software maintenance is being able to understand and develop code changes. Thus, given a natural language description of the desired new operation of a function, an agent (human or AI) might be asked to generate the set of edits to that function to implement the desired new operation; likewise, given a set of edits to a function, an agent might be asked to generate a changed description, of that function's new workings. Thus, there is an incentive to train a neural model for change-related tasks. Motivated by this, we offer a new, "natural", large dataset of coupled changes to code and documentation mined from actual high-quality GitHub projects, where each sample represents a single commit where the code and the associated docstring were changed together. We present the methodology for gathering the dataset, and some sample, challenging (but realistic) tasks where our dataset provides opportunities for both learning and evaluation. We find that current models (specifically Llama-3.1 405B, Mixtral 8times22B) do find these maintenance-related tasks challenging. 3 authors · Feb 1
- COOCO -- Common Objects Out-of-Context -- Semantic Violation in Scenes: Investigating Multimodal Context in Referential Communication Natural scenes provide us with rich contexts for object recognition and reference. In particular, knowing what type of scene one is looking at generates expectations about which objects will occur, and what their spatial configuration should be. Do Vision-Language Models (VLMs) learn to rely on scene contexts in a similar way, when generating references to objects? To address this question, we introduce the Common Objects Out-of-Context (COOCO) dataset and test to what extent VLMs rely on scene context to refer to objects under different degrees of scene-object congruency, and different perturbations. Our findings show that models leverage scene context adaptively, depending on both the semantic relatedness between object and scene and the level of noise. In particular, models rely more on context under high target-scene congruence or when objects are degraded. Attention analysis reveals that successful object categorisation involves increased focus on the target in mid-level layers, especially under moderate noise, suggesting that VLMs dynamically balance local and contextual information for reference generation. - CoCoCo: Improving Text-Guided Video Inpainting for Better Consistency, Controllability and Compatibility Recent advancements in video generation have been remarkable, yet many existing methods struggle with issues of consistency and poor text-video alignment. Moreover, the field lacks effective techniques for text-guided video inpainting, a stark contrast to the well-explored domain of text-guided image inpainting. To this end, this paper proposes a novel text-guided video inpainting model that achieves better consistency, controllability and compatibility. Specifically, we introduce a simple but efficient motion capture module to preserve motion consistency, and design an instance-aware region selection instead of a random region selection to obtain better textual controllability, and utilize a novel strategy to inject some personalized models into our CoCoCo model and thus obtain better model compatibility. Extensive experiments show that our model can generate high-quality video clips. Meanwhile, our model shows better motion consistency, textual controllability and model compatibility. - The Codec Language Model-based Zero-Shot Spontaneous Style TTS System for CoVoC Challenge 2024 This paper describes the zero-shot spontaneous style TTS system for the ISCSLP 2024 Conversational Voice Clone Challenge (CoVoC). We propose a LLaMA-based codec language model with a delay pattern to achieve spontaneous style voice cloning. To improve speech intelligibility, we introduce the Classifier-Free Guidance (CFG) strategy in the language model to strengthen conditional guidance on token prediction. To generate high-quality utterances, we adopt effective data preprocessing operations and fine-tune our model with selected high-quality spontaneous speech data. The official evaluations in the CoVoC constrained track show that our system achieves the best speech naturalness MOS of 3.80 and obtains considerable speech quality and speaker similarity results. 9 authors · Dec 1, 2024
