26 LeX-Art: Rethinking Text Generation via Scalable High-Quality Data Synthesis We introduce LeX-Art, a comprehensive suite for high-quality text-image synthesis that systematically bridges the gap between prompt expressiveness and text rendering fidelity. Our approach follows a data-centric paradigm, constructing a high-quality data synthesis pipeline based on Deepseek-R1 to curate LeX-10K, a dataset of 10K high-resolution, aesthetically refined 1024times1024 images. Beyond dataset construction, we develop LeX-Enhancer, a robust prompt enrichment model, and train two text-to-image models, LeX-FLUX and LeX-Lumina, achieving state-of-the-art text rendering performance. To systematically evaluate visual text generation, we introduce LeX-Bench, a benchmark that assesses fidelity, aesthetics, and alignment, complemented by Pairwise Normalized Edit Distance (PNED), a novel metric for robust text accuracy evaluation. Experiments demonstrate significant improvements, with LeX-Lumina achieving a 79.81% PNED gain on CreateBench, and LeX-FLUX outperforming baselines in color (+3.18%), positional (+4.45%), and font accuracy (+3.81%). - LeBenchmark 2.0: a Standardized, Replicable and Enhanced Framework for Self-supervised Representations of French Speech Self-supervised learning (SSL) is at the origin of unprecedented improvements in many different domains including computer vision and natural language processing. Speech processing drastically benefitted from SSL as most of the current domain-related tasks are now being approached with pre-trained models. This work introduces LeBenchmark 2.0 an open-source framework for assessing and building SSL-equipped French speech technologies. It includes documented, large-scale and heterogeneous corpora with up to 14,000 hours of heterogeneous speech, ten pre-trained SSL wav2vec 2.0 models containing from 26 million to one billion learnable parameters shared with the community, and an evaluation protocol made of six downstream tasks to complement existing benchmarks. LeBenchmark 2.0 also presents unique perspectives on pre-trained SSL models for speech with the investigation of frozen versus fine-tuned downstream models, task-agnostic versus task-specific pre-trained models as well as a discussion on the carbon footprint of large-scale model training. 22 authors · Sep 11, 2023
- X-LeBench: A Benchmark for Extremely Long Egocentric Video Understanding Long-form egocentric video understanding provides rich contextual information and unique insights into long-term human behaviors, holding significant potential for applications in embodied intelligence, long-term activity analysis, and personalized assistive technologies. However, existing benchmark datasets primarily focus on single, short-duration videos or moderately long videos up to dozens of minutes, leaving a substantial gap in evaluating extensive, ultra-long egocentric video recordings. To address this, we introduce X-LeBench, a novel benchmark dataset specifically crafted for evaluating tasks on extremely long egocentric video recordings. Leveraging the advanced text processing capabilities of large language models (LLMs), X-LeBench develops a life-logging simulation pipeline that produces realistic, coherent daily plans aligned with real-world video data. This approach enables the flexible integration of synthetic daily plans with real-world footage from Ego4D-a massive-scale egocentric video dataset covers a wide range of daily life scenarios-resulting in 432 simulated video life logs that mirror realistic daily activities in contextually rich scenarios. The video life-log durations span from 23 minutes to 16.4 hours. The evaluation of several baseline systems and multimodal large language models (MLLMs) reveals their poor performance across the board, highlighting the inherent challenges of long-form egocentric video understanding and underscoring the need for more advanced models. 10 authors · Jan 12
1 Revisiting a Pain in the Neck: Semantic Phrase Processing Benchmark for Language Models We introduce LexBench, a comprehensive evaluation suite enabled to test language models (LMs) on ten semantic phrase processing tasks. Unlike prior studies, it is the first work to propose a framework from the comparative perspective to model the general semantic phrase (i.e., lexical collocation) and three fine-grained semantic phrases, including idiomatic expression, noun compound, and verbal construction. Thanks to \ourbenchmark, we assess the performance of 15 LMs across model architectures and parameter scales in classification, extraction, and interpretation tasks. Through the experiments, we first validate the scaling law and find that, as expected, large models excel better than the smaller ones in most tasks. Second, we investigate further through the scaling semantic relation categorization and find that few-shot LMs still lag behind vanilla fine-tuned models in the task. Third, through human evaluation, we find that the performance of strong models is comparable to the human level regarding semantic phrase processing. Our benchmarking findings can serve future research aiming to improve the generic capability of LMs on semantic phrase comprehension.
