# Image and Video Understanding Lab (IVUL) – KAUST | |
Welcome to the **Image and Video Understanding Lab (IVUL)** at **King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST)**! | |
At IVUL, we explore fundamental and applied research in **computer vision**, with interests that span: | |
- Activity recognition and detection | |
- Robust object representations for tracking and recognition | |
- Scene understanding from 3D data | |
- Image and video annotation at scale | |
Our mission is to make sense of visual data—especially at **large scale**—through the development of **innovative machine learning and optimization methods**. | |
--- | |
## 🔬 Research Focus | |
We aim to push the boundaries of what machines can understand from visual input. Our work addresses both theoretical and practical challenges across a broad spectrum of topics in computer vision and machine learning. Be sure to check out our [publications](https://ivul.kaust.edu.sa/ivul-publications) to see the impactful work our group has contributed to. | |

## 🤝 Join Us | |
We are always on the lookout for: | |
- Bright and motivated **postdocs** | |
- Passionate and curious **PhD and MSc students** | |
- Engaged and enthusiastic **visiting students** | |
Here is a list of our current [Team](https://ivul.kaust.edu.sa/profiles). If you're interested in joining IVUL or learning more about what we do, [visit our page](https://ivul.kaust.edu.sa/). | |
Our research scope is broad and collaborative—there’s a place here for people with diverse interests in computer vision and AI. | |
